For hot-and-high LZs, I go by ‘If OGE < 10% torque, it’s a no-hover day’: power check abeam, set an abort gate, and keep ETL to a gentle run-on — ETL’s your best friend, don’t ghost it on short final. If the surface is dusty or tight I’ll skip the run-on for a slightly steeper approach after confirming tail-rotor margin; otherwise I’ll come back lighter.
