Kneeboard card for safer approaches

I put together a one-page kneeboard card I give new helicopter students that standardizes stabilized approaches and go-arounds. It sets a “stable by” gate at 300’ AGL/60 KIAS, highlights VRS cues (R/D >300 fpm below ETL with high power), and prompts a clear go-around call if outside parameters; happy to share the template and would love your tweaks, especially for LTE awareness and off-airport recon notes.

On my kneeboard I added a tiny ‘LTE watch’ trigger: if I’ve got a quartering tailwind and >80% torque below ETL, I say it out loud and bias to a slight headwind crosswind; if pedals are near neutral with more power coming, I go around… Your 300’/60 gate works, though on gusty days I use 70 KIAS.

That 300’ AGL/60 KIAS gate works; I add a tiny ‘HOGE margin’ box — if predicted HOGE torque is within 10% of limit, I cap R/D to 200 fpm below ETL and brief an immediate go‑around path. Building on @davidnguyen86, I print ‘no tailwind below ETL’ to head off LTE. Small caveat: the >300 fpm VRS cue is too generous at high DA; 200 fpm has been safer for me.
