Handheld ultrasound that pulls its weight

Started flying with a Vscan Air in the H145, and being able to run a FAST in under 90 seconds from skids-up has tightened my fluid vs pressor decisions en route and kept patient priorities clear. Anyone solved interference and dropouts near the hoist or found a low-profile mount that stays stable under NVGs without crowding the vent tubing?

Had intermittent dropouts by the hoist on our H145 until we put the tablet in airplane mode, turned Wi‑Fi back on, and forced 5 GHz only — the hoist noise murders 2.4. If you’re on iOS and can’t band‑lock, nudging the device forward of the B‑pillar and adding a ferrite on the tablet’s power lead kept it solid for us. @OP, are you running Android or iPad?

Running the tablet on battery only during scans fixed our hoist-side dropouts — plugging into ship power was the noise source; “unplugged = solid feed.” @alex_m89’s 5 GHz trick helps too, but if you must charge, a snap-on ferrite on the USB‑C lead only bought us a little — do yours spike when you’re plugged in?
